Verna's signature Curry Goat, Jamaica Jerk Chicken and Rice & Peas are the Carnival favourites, joined by Spicy Prawns, Ackee & home-made Saltfish plus our own Jerk Pork Skewers, Masala Mutton, Trinidad Chicken & King Prawn Curry and the local Scallop & Ling Curry.

Steak Burgers & BabyBack Ribs

For meat fans, we have home-made 8oz Steak Burgers and Babyback Ribs served traditional American style or with a Caribbean twist.

Gurnard Goujons, Scallop & Hogs, Legendary Lamb Shank and Oxtail in Red Wine.

Goat Cheese Samosas plus all Vegan options in Pumpkin Patties, Jerk Tofu, Sweet Potato & Black Bean Curry and Chilli sin Carne

Aside from the obvious, most of our menu is Gluten-free - sauces do not use flour

For children, we offer 4oz Burger and Chips, Chicken Nuggets and Spaghetti Bolognese - all home-made and just £5. For just £2-50, we'll add an Ice Cream to follow.

Local Suppliers

We source as much as we can from local suppliers - Brixham fish, local meat, Devon goat, Dartmoor Brewery ales, Cornish Rattler Cyder, Devon's Sharpham white wine.

John's Bar

The bar offers Great Cocktails, Good Wines, Red Stripe lager, Peroni, Sol and Devon Ales from the Dartmoor Brewery. We have 25 or more different Caribbean rums, Tequila, Armagnac, Cognac and Calvados. The extensive Cocktail Menu has 75 or more varied cocktails and a handful more alcohol-free. The Wines come from around the world with great house choices from Chile, Italy, South Africa, France and California.

Eclectic Decor

Caribbean decor features Verna's own Carnival costumes and period posters. Family rugby associations are evident in the framed rugby shirts. Pepper Shack sits around 30 diners and is available for Private Bookings on any day - lunchtime and evening.
